doorknob-adorned stainless steel stool by junha jang explores spatial boundaries

Designer Junha Jang explores the conceptual space of a door as a boundary that exists neither inside nor outside through Knots Stool. This piece employs elements typically associated with doors—such as knobs and metallic finishes—to create a sculptural form that invites contemplation. The stool features an arrangement of stainless steel and zinc knobs, emphasizing the idea of doors as portals to creativity. ‘A door is a space that does not belong anywhere. That’s why I think a door is a creative space. Therefore, the elements of it are used to form the sculpture.’ shares the designer.

Two stacked, rectangular forms, each adorned with variously sized knobs protruding from the surface compose the sculptural stool by Junha Jang. The stainless steel construction, paired with the zinc knobs, gives the piece an industrial aesthetic. The dimensions of the lower box are 30 x 30 x 28 cm, while the overall height of the Knots Stool by the Korean designer reaches 51 cm.
